Have the sales of watches declined because of mobile phones?

I was just thinking about it because alot of people rely on their phones for the time.

It depends on which type of watch. Sales of high priced, showy watches are increasing, but sales of both cheap and moderately priced watches are steadily declining. It is estimated that if the current trend continues, by 2015, there will be 75% reduction of sales of this category from the all time high of 77% everyday watch wearers throughout the 80's, 74% in the 90's and today's rate of 45%.
