  1. Yes there was, is, will always be cases like that.

But the problem is that you can't tell whether they were just hilusinating which can be caused by lack of oxygen, and extreme pain, or that that they saw it for real.

In my opinion, I don't think they did, because they didn't die in the first place. Their vital signs stopped i agree, but they didn't die.

Some people may agree, some people may not, but that's my opinion.

  2. Yes, it's called clinical death. Many people who have experienced it recall very similar occurrences, such as walking through a tunnel and reuniting with their deceased loved ones.

  3. If there was, and there probably is, it is more likely because they  know they are going to die or think they are dead and so as a defense mechanism to ease the pain, the brain brings up memories of people one would be incredibly happy to see. This, of course, is assuming they weren't really dead and/or there is no afterlife.

  4. Yes, many. I have listed some links to books and one web site for you below.

  5. Read any book by Dr. Raymond A. Moody, Jr.

Peter, they were dead, it is just that modern technology has enabled them to rescusitate the person who was previously beyond the restoration point before. Dead is no longer  dead as it used to be... now there is a point in between , It is worth investigating why so many people have shared this same or similar experience  before you just cast it off as more psycho-babble.

  6. There are people who have been conscious of the process of death who have then been able to describe this experience as they perceived it.  However, they weren't technically dead.  That's a one-way street.

  7. I heard of a priest who was talking to people he thought were around him just before he died...but there was only one person there.  I know that wasn't what you asked..but I just thought of it and thought I'd throw it in. That's about as "near death " as you can get.

  8. There is one good case I know of.

He is signed in under the name of Texas Neuro. on the site I've listed below. Posted 6th December 2007.

It's quite a long post, but well worth a read.

You may have to sign-up to the forum to read it.

He's a doctor, and describes seeing shadows shortly before having a heart attack.
