    Greek warriors fought to save HELEN.

The n**i's killed many jews while doing research on hypothermia, new drugs, new surgeries etc.  Chances are, you or someone you know have taken a drug originally developed in these horrific "tests."  But, it probably wasn't necessary because eventually the breakthroughs found would have been found through traditional clinical trials.

    In WWII, the US had code talkers.  Many Americans died to protect those Navajo code talkers.  Many died, but many were saved.  the Japanese couldn't break the code, and none of the code talkers were ever captured.

    In hostage situations, sometimes it's necessary to kill the hostage takers in order to save the hostage.  That's happened many times.
