I&#039;ve studied a lot of mythologies and folklore, and the closest I&#039;ve seen to it are ancient japanese vampires - but then they don&#039;t drink blood, they drink spinal fluid.

I think the daywalker vampire is a 20th century invention.

In the Balkans and much of Eastern Europe, there is the common belief that vampires have children with mortal women--usually their spouse. This results in a child with extra abilities, who is called a dhamophir, like Blade, BloodRayne, and many others.
