Have they really found a cure for the common cold

Question

If they have then congratulations, Now all they have to do is find a cure for Man Flu.

I thought the whole reason that colds are untreatable is that it has a gazillion permutations that change constantly. It doesn't really explain how they have worked their way around that one! I bet this 'cure' just lessens the symptons to 3 1/2 days intead of 4 .

Anyhow as c**p as colds are I think we all need them to force ourselves to take the foot off the accelerator occasionally.

i think they have yes, many years ago, but pharmaceutical companies make so much money off cold remedies that if they gave out the cure for the common cold, they would lose billions, worldwide (if not more!)

I already have a cure for a cold, one hot whiskey everyday before bed. I never get a cold. My gran drinks whiskey and she never gets a cold.

Probably not, but stories like this one have kept the news media in cash for decades.  The common cold is caused by a wide range of viruses.  Anti-viral drugs tend to be effective against only a few.  You can come up with a cure for one set of cold or flu viruses only to find it doesn't work for the next lot.

If you pump yourself full of beta interferon, you won't catch colds.  But it costs about £2,000 a week.  The cure for colds and flu will be to come up with a way of making the body produce its own interferon (without having to catch flu first).  But once everyone was immune, there'd be no market for the drug companies' other products, so don't hold your breath.

eat a good diet plenty of milk lots of fruits and veggies you will never suffer from a cold again
