Have to hold the remote in to make the garage door open or close?

Question

I want to open the door partially in order for the dog to be able to go out. Normally I can touch the remote and release and the door will partially open. Now it won't do that?

the battery in the remote could be slowing down,also check the ariel make sure it's not caught up on anything
