Question:

Have to pick sliding glass doors treatments - Curtains or Vertical Blinds?

For all other windows in my new home, I have ordered 2" faux wood horizontal blinds in a coconut color (slightly off white) which matches my walls/trim/kitchen cabinets and appliances. I need to decide on the treatments for my family room and master bedroom sliding glass doors. I'm tempted to go with a curtain to give some color to the room, but everyone is telling me to put verticals in with the same coconut color.

Did anyone else have to make this decision?

  1. You have to ask yourself if the doors your putting these treatments up on are used alot...If they are used alot the curtains will get dirty alot..with the bilinds you can pull them back..I do not see why you can not put up blinds an a vallance  to add the color you want.  I have a slider off my kitchen that leads to a huge screened in porch that is used all year long everyday...I have a curtain up w/vallance but keep the curtain always pulled 1/2 way back so the curtain is never touched......well I can keep blabbing so good luck to you an let me know what you decided on..

  2. I have the vertical blinds for my patio door and I hate them. They are noisy when the windows are open and the metal pieces in the bottom of the blind does not stay in. I would go with the curtains.

  3. Curtains, definitely. You could probably find some to match anyway. If you're concerned about too much light, there are lined/heavy curtains available.

  4. My apartment just got refurbished and the curtains were replaced with vertical blinds. Although i was skeptical, I found not only did I like the look of vertical blinds better, but they even kept out more light when I wanted them to!
