I moved into my place 3 months ago and was told that the lady that who previously lived there had left the phone line connected, when i called bt and asked if i was connected they said no, i called again to check with another advisor and i was told they would call me back in 5 days.

I heard nothing until 2 weeks later when i received a bill for 3 months line rental and no connection fee!

I had only enquired and they connected me wthout any notice. I tried to call them but was could not get hold of them, i have tried again and again and am still unable - i was left on hold for an hour.

I then wrote a complaint email but received nothing and that was a month ago, so i have wrote another one last week and havent recieved anything again.

Has anybody had this sort of experience with BT?

  1. Send them a recorded delivery letter outlining your complaint, telling them what you want them to do and within what time-scale.

You've been unlucky not being able to get hold of them on the phone - my experience with them has always been that they answer promptly and generally sort things out first time.

  2. i never used BT i never liked it, but my uncle had BT line he was told to pay 150 to get line to his address, 3 months later he had to move and he was again told to pay 150 to get new line, then he changed to virgin media atleast they charge 25 pounds only

my sister also when she got bt line was told to pay 150 connection fees and 50 pounds deposit and she used to get bills for calls she didnt make, after that she left and choose virgin media too

  3. i had been ripped off by One Tell, Xlennet ext. When you write to the BT put proof of the date when you moved in, you have to post it with signature at their end and add that you will give them 2 weeks time to sort it or you will file it for a court hearing (even if you are not it will help). Don't trust an e mail or the phone talk. Letters are still very powerful thing so use it! good Luck! PS You will win in this situation. I just cut my bill from 789. pounds to 131. BT is not the worst one here... trust me
