  1. Yes, I spent 10 days there.  Petra is one of the most amazing places in the world and I urge everyone to go there if they can.  I spent a couple of days at a resort on the Dead Sea which was great, and the experience of swimming in such a high concentration of salt was weird (the way you can't sink even if you try).  The landscape on the drive between Amman and Petra is quite stunning.  Driving around the desert around Petra was fantastic.  Seeing Bedouins still living in their goat or sheep wool woven tents and seeing really little kids out in the middle of knowhere herding their goats alone (not even a bottle of water) in the heat still staggers me.  It upset me to see so many refugee camps (Palestian and Iraqi) because it reminds you about the human cost of wars, but it is nice of Jordan to welcome them.

The one thing about Jordan that I didn't like was the number of plastic bags littering the whole country.  They really need to do something about it.

  2. Yes, I have! It was great, but I only did a day trip from Taba Heights in Egypt so not long enough.

  3. I had a great time.  I highly recommend Wadi Rum which is a gorgeous desert nature preserve.  There are just huge expanses of land.  You can do a jeep tour for a couple hours or a longer trip hiking or on camels for several days.  Petra was amazing.  The King's Highway from Petra to Amman was great with stops at a couple cruisader castles, the dead sea, Mt Nebo (where Moses is said to have come to see Israel) and Madaba (amazing Mosaics - be sure to hit the map church and dont miss the other sites there too!)  We ended in Amman and didn't make it to Jerash which is a really well-preserved Roman city.  Other day trips from Amman too.
