i just heard from my parents that in z newpaper it said that sydney is tryin to add another team to z afl!!! its a bankston based team!!! i reckon it ll b pretty kool!!! hey and ...

AFL said that a while ago. They are trying to get one set up in Blacktown and one on the Gold Coast by 2012. Blacktown would require a totally new stadium which will probably start off as like 20k size and play bigger games at Homebush, but it should go alright up there since Blacktown is right near the Hills district which has a big AFL following.

Bankstown? I couldn't imagine all Habib, Farouk & Khalil ditching a Dogs game to go and watch AFL.

Gold Coast would be the best place for a relocated (sorry North Melbourne, it will happen) team

Yeah, old news. They said it a while ago. In fact, they've been saying it for years.

Maybe by 2012 we'd have another team in Sydney.

AFL news mustn't travel very far up in NSW!

They are looking at adding a team from Blacktown and Gold Coast.

If they succeed, good on them. Blacktown, not bankstown, is the intended area as it has many kids that want to play sport regardless of what it is. All codes are popular in Sydney, although Rugby League is the most popular, but others including AFL are welcome. It would be good to have another team in Sydney, as not everyone supports the swans, unless they are winning.

i dont think it'll happen within 2011 or 2012 or whatever timeframe the AFL said... will take quite alot of time and at least some success from brisbane and sydney to actually get people interested.

Hope it does though... I'd love to see the AFL expand with all 10 Vic clubs in tact
