unreasonable customers?

I heard in a country club a chef put his shoes in a fried rice before serving to an unreasonable customer

a chef in a hotel use his feet and step on a beef steak before frying and serve to his nasty management colleague

Tell me about it!

I work in a restaurant & while we sometimes joke about it nothing is ever really done. However knowing just how easy it is for them to do so, when I dine out I make sure not to be a jerk to the staff!

When one goes to a typical fast-food restaurant today, you are risking your life. Look in the back and see who's making your food? How often do you get sick or feel bad after you have eaten at one.

We would joke about it.

I would tell the kitchen "Hey I need special sauce on table 12"

But I've never actually seen anyone do it.

At 1 particular place, the executive chef would taste test the meals before they went to the table. I did not see a problem wth that. But he would do it with his bare fingers and then he would just wipe his fingers on his apron. And sometime he did not realize that he would touch his hair or his ears and then go back to touching peoples food with his bare hands. The other chefs would use a fork or spoon to taste test. I've also seen chefs drop carving knives on the floor and not clean them, pick at scabs and even sneeze into their hands and go back making tortelloni. These are fine dining places mind you.

I worked at a fast food restaurant in high school and there are things that go on.  Especially when it was near closing time and people came in and ordered a ton of food.  We would do "special" things to their food like microwave 5 times longer than it should be or throwing hamburgers on the floor and stepping on them before putting them in the bun.  Its all in good fun.
