  1. i want to do the same thing. learn at home before i go public and attend classes.

i think its possible, if your trying im doing it too. email me or something, if you are in nyc

  2. i think different people have their own style of hip hop dance.. i've been doing hip hop dance for 12 years now, i kno i didn't get it taught to me, i just used to turn hip hop music on and start dancing to it. Attending classes can perfect ur hip hop style and teach you new moves and help u learn choreography quicker, but true hip hop comes from you! Sometimes you don't even have to think about what move your gonna do next because it just comes naturally!

  3. Well when I first started hip hop, I taught myself a lot, but its easier to teach yourself if you have training in other forms. Anyways, one of the most productive way to learn (or at least what helped me when I started!) is by watching others and imitating. Start watching youtube videos, and I don't know if this is possible where you live, but attend dance performances if you can. Some very prominent dancers started off just watching music videos and teaching themselves the entire dance from the video. I don't know of any good instructional videos but look some up on amazon.com and read the reviews!

And maybe once you get on your feet, you'll consider at least a few classes :)

  4. well i cant help you there all you have to do is practice practice and practice till you become the best at wat you do...my brother crip walk and he's really gud at it....in california ppl crip walk all the time so they can help you.....gud luck : D

  5. Learning by yourself is a lot more difficult than taking classes. In classes, you can learn the different steps, just like a video or a dvd. The difference is that the other experienced people in the class with you (like your teacher) can help you hands on with steps your confused with and can help you correct what you might be doing wrong (face it, dvd's can't do that) I say you could become a lot better dancer in a class. Lots of dance classes hold hiphop and beak dancing classes.

  6. I did do hip hop on my own for a while and the way I did it was I tried to get the feel of hip hop musc. Like the sharp beats and the curved beats and I tried  to incorporate them into a move. Good luck

  7. practice and try doing the stunts.. be careful! or find a someone who knows a couple moves and learn off each other

  8. im a self learner, never taken a class or anything. what i did do was the youtube thing, get the basics and foundations than i practiced with friends and we helped each other out.

at first i started with crip walking and to be honest i didnt like it after about a week, it didn't leave much for me to do after a while.

bboying is my passion, it'll take a LOT of work its not simple at all. but again practice with friends and you'll be able to help each other out as well as have fun at the same time. 1 - 2 hours is good, be sure that you're also fit, so put in some training time. once you get the basics and foundations move on to making your own style, please please please dont learn only powermoves. no bboy gives you respect if you can only headspin and windmill if you cant do the basics or put your own style.

    anyways goodluck and train hard.

  9. i know this isnt' what you wnated but it would be best for you to take some hip-hop or jazz classes at your local studio. But if you dont' wnat to do that,

go to www.justforkix.com and they have dvds [instructionjal]
