Hi. We have a barn thats about 100 years old if not more. We have heard of a high demand for this type wood. We plan on taking down the barn no later than this fall. Any help locating buyers would be great or if anyone is interested please let me know your contact information. I can email pictures starting tomorrow. We are located in Delphi, Indiana, about 1.5 hours north of indianapolis.

  1. Why are you taking it down?  I'm from Indiana, I love old barns, I hate it when people tear them down and put up pole barns.

Anyway, I'd just run ads in the newspaper, you could try craigslist.com, although I don't think that would probably be quite the demographic you want to target.  Word of mouth is probably your best bet.

  2. It is now very popular to take old beams and to mill them in to floor boards. There is a high demand for this flooring. Are there any mills in your area. I'd even try e-bay. Some folks take the barns down and then reconstruct the beams at a different site and make houses of them. I will ask around. In NJ I know of many people who would jump at the chance to buy an old barn.

  3. run ads in your hometown and nearby newspapers. I'm sure you will get many calls soon, If we lived alot closer we'd take it off your hands but seeing as how we are from Ga. it would take many, many tanks of gas to get there and back and as high as it is right now i really don't think we could afford it. Wish you Good luck.

  4. Contact some finish carpenters or custom furniture builders in your area, they may know who wants to buy.
