Have we improved things in 200,000 years?

Humans have walked the earth roughly 200,000 years - my question is, have we improved things?

Many animal species are becoming extinct because of us.

We seem to be rushing headlong in destroying our own planet, cos we are destroying the forests etc.

Now we have a food crisis.

We have killed Billions of our own kind in numerous horrific wars.

We have covered half the planet in concrete.

We have fished the seas half dry of fish.

We have polluted the air we breathe.

.........................................

Sure, I could list just as many `advances` but what do you think?

  1. we are the only species intelligent enough to adversly affect the planet. that's evolution at its finest.

  2. The human sought out comfort from early times. This led to early civilizations in various locations of planet. This probably was the best time when the humans were happy - they lived in the land of milk and honey. They were kind to their fellow human beings as well as other lives (animals, sealives, trees....). Probably that was the key of happiness.

The incline of the progress probably stopped here, reached a plateau. Still this was good. But this stage made some lethargic, taking things for granted and expected to be provided: some more greedy, trying to hoard more than needed, even at the cost of snatching from a neighbor or even a family member: but most of all everyone was inflicted with ego. The industrialization helped in advancing comforts and allowing goods to reach to commoner that were available only to privileged. However, now, in some sectors, we are overproducing, thus encouraging "throwaway" economy. Just take a look at junkyards!!! Why junkyards? Last week, in a groceryshop I saw a worker hauling away the cartload of bread loaves to be destroyed. Obviously that was due to the expiration date, and it is routine. I inquired, instead couldn't it be given away to homeless shelter?  I also wondered about the victims of natural disasters around the world.

The human race had achieved great things. But now we are our best enemies destroying these slowly.

If we don't act quickly we might destroy what is most important to all of us - human race. Or at least reduce it to a very pathetic stage.

  3. haha, I seen a comic strip where god is trying to call his flocks home and he says I'm trying but man keeps stopping me. And below him it showed an animal sanctuary with endangered animals. HAHA.

Pine beetle killed somany trees that the gases from dead trees are several times the amount put out by vehicles.

Nature is going to killmost of usl anyway, the earth has been through so many climate changes, the next one is on its way regardless.

I hate to say it, but without war and starvation, this planet would run out of room in a couple of years

  4. i think we didnt improve things

  5. All you enumerate is true, but nowadays we have lost ethical

consciousness and teaching of everlasting values and that's even worse spiritually speaking.

  6. That's impossible, we haven't been here for 200,000 years. We've only been here about 6,000 years.

But I do agree with the pollution part.

  7. Most likely we'll have to move to another planet in 200,000 years. Most people on this earth and completely oblivious of what they're doing to the earth, that if they did know, they wouldn't CARE! They wouldn't care because they don't want to have to walk everywhere. They don't want to stop using all the chemicals this earth. And all those "Geniuses" that came up with cars and what not, they'd be actual Geniuses if they found things to use that didn't RUIN EARTH!

    That is my opinion.

  8. our planet is degrating  not getting better. this place will be extinct and that's when end times come in. if you wanna know about all that has happened good, well look at your house=electricity and cars and sewege and....., but if you wanna know what's gonna happen, then read Revelation in the Message version of the Bible. it has everything you need to know. and as to whats happened thats bad, well there's a lot, but i would say that the good out runs it. we have modern technology. that alone helps tons a hospitalized patients and other people too. think about it.....

  9. you make some great points!!!

i dont know... we improved a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT since cavemen. i mean, just think of iphones or other really great technology that we have.

however, i mean, think about how much things used 2 cost! like, i learned that if u wanted 2 take ONE piano lesson it would cost like, 25 cents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... gas is almost $4 now!!!!

ppl are trying 2 improve though. there's the new "going green" theme where ppl are trying 2 save as much money as possible and do things 2 help the environment. we're all trying our best and so is the UN and like, UNICEF how it's helping kids in Africa and developing countries
