Have you a inexpensive skateboard recommendation for a kid?

My tall and big footed daughter would like to get a new skateboard since her father disappeared with her old junky hand me down one. There's 21" and there's 31" long. There's 6" wide and there's 8" wide. My daughter is almost 11, about 5' tall and wears an adult woman's size 7 shoe. Which size skateboard should I be looking at? She's a newbie and a cute lil klutz. What do you recommend? Please ABSOLUTELY NO Barbie, Disney or Hannah Montana anything! I'm not looking to buy something pro, but I want something better than a piece of junk (but do take into account that I'm a broke single mom shopping early for Christmas). If you have links or prices, or an online place to get one, that would be helpful too. Thanks!

  1. I worked at a skateshop for many years, theres really no correlation from board size to foot size or height/weight or anything like that. I wear a size 11 and ride an 8" board, but i know plenty of people with big feet that ride 7.5 or smaller. A custom pro complete typically runs 120ish. What you refer to as piece of junk would be a wal-mart/target/whatever department store board, which can go from $20 up (are honestly can be a good investment seeing as skateboarding isnt easy, and if she looses intrests it will just be that much less money wasted). Most shops will have a price point pre-assembled factory complete for around $90 or so, which, if she really wants to stick with this and learn, i would recommend. However really anything works to just learn the feel of a board on.
