Have you all seen the Yahoo home page today?

I'm all for reusing and recycling, but all of this "go green" and "sustainability" is going too far. I mean there's "eco friendly" paint, carpet, hybrid cars, long life lightbulbs, etc. It's nuts! I shouldn't have to be forced to go green. It should be my choice. The Earth has been here for a billion years. It will survive. Your thoughts?? No smart asses, please!

  1. Going green doesn't have to be expensive if you use my: My Best Recycling Idea

Besides recycling the plastic containers, you can improve your work or home environments by bringing live potted plants indoors.

    Major items needed:

One empty plastic gallon container.   Tree Top Apple Juice is preferred, or equal in shape.

One empty plastic ½ gallon container.  Langers All Pomergranate Juice is preferred or equal.

Directions:  Lay the plastic gallon container on its side so the front label is facing up.  Place the empty plastic half gallon container on the label and with a sharpie pen outline the bottom on the Tree Top label and with a sharp knife carefully cut the outline.  Insert the half gallon into the hole until it rest on the back label of the gallon container.  Then mark and cut approximately one inch above the cut on the ½ gallon  to complete your planter container.  Remove and drill several ¼ inch holes on the bottom of the ½ gallon cut container for drainage.

Fill the cut ½ gallon planter with one inch of gravel before putting in good potting mix soil and live growing plant.  If you make two or more you can pour the water back and forth and not waste the water with the nutrients.

Go to NASA’s Clean Air Plant Study for the top ten plants that cleans the indoor air better than the rest.   http://www.zone10.com/tech/NASA/Fyh.htm

  3. I do not believe there is any doubt that the Earth will survive.  The concern is whether or not we will survive.  You do not have to look far to see changes that have already taken place.  Yahoo is simply trying to raise awareness because tomorrow is Earth Day.  I commend them for their efforts, and while I am personally a huge supporter of eco friendly products, I do not believe anyone is forcing you as a consumer to purchase them.  There are still many more regular products on the shelves than eco friendly ones.

  4. I'm sure the earth will survive.  I think the concern is the survival of the people.  Why should that be your choice?  What makes you so special?

  5. Mother Earth is Alive, but ill. She has a fever from a spreading virus we call the human race. Going green won't solve the problem. The end is near.

  6. Wow....I'm surprised by your comment.  I'm not sure if the earth will survive because it has never been polluted in so many ways till now.  I do think that we as people will not survive on this earth given the rate we are over consuming, polluting, etc.  To say that "go green" and  "sustainability" is forcing you to go green is a little silly as they really aren't "forcing" you.  But it's ignorant on your part to not want to be more sustainable and help the earth, animals, and people just because you think the earth will survive.  We are all part of the earth and we should be respecting her by making good, positive choices.  Not everyone can afford hybrid cars or some of the other more expensive eco-friendly items, but being conscious about and limiting what you are buying, consuming, polluting, etc, is incredibly important for everyone's well being.

  7. I noticed the home page right off! I think it's great! I live in the country where a lot of people think it is okay to just dump their trash on the side of the road or down a bank..... pour motor oil on the ground or in a creek (because they think it is funny), We still have factories here that are pouring pollutants into our rivers( we cannot fish in them because of this reason!),...

this past deer season I came across a deer carcous on the side of the road shot.... the whole thing minus it's skin and antlers!!!!!!! Women in certain areas here are 70% likely of having ovarian cancer of some form!!!!!!!

It is a fact that humans have damaged the earth and some of can't be fixed (i.e., animals, insects, plants, birds, etc.,) and if we do not try to create a better and more positive awareness then it's only going to get worse! It's also a fact that global warming is happening (we are not in danger YET) and if we don't reverse the damage on a global level ....... let's just say we may become extinct as well.

I am happy to see that more and more people are becoming aware and happier to see that they now want to be educated and be a part of 'the clean up'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  8. well .. ur kinda right but they have 2 do it ..

the Earth will NOT survive by its own .. coz  we r like poluting it more and more .. then that's it .. high temp , ice fading = Earth's DONE!! .. and if u like noticed the fires , volcanos , storms , had like increased renectly .. >> d**n ! who knew i could  blab all that info?!  lol

Anywayz .. those Eco-Friendly stuff will help reducing those dangers .. then everybody will live happily ever after !!

  9. No one is forcing you to go green. There are plenty of regular, non-environmentally-friendly options for people like you. Today is Earth day, which is why the yahoo logo is different.

If you were aware of the impact of our exploding population, CO2 emissions and other polution you would perhaps be a bit more considerate. I'm sure the earth will survive our abuse, but the question is whether humans will survive it too!
