I want to be an au pair in France within the next year. Has anyone on here done this before? Do you know any good, reliable, agencies? Do you have any recommendations for cities or regions to live in? Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

(I'm an American)

  1. No, I haven't- most people don't want a guy looking after their kid. Having said that, I'd strongly recommend checking out FUSAC (France USA Contacts) if you haven't already. Best of luck to you! http://www.fusac.fr

  2. The Embassy of France has some useful information about gewtting an "Au Pari" visa here: http://www.consulfrance-washington.org/s...

I haven't done this, as David has already said, au pairs are usually females, but I have known a lot of girls who have. The hours can long and your enjoyment of the experience depends a lot on the family you work for.

As to where, it seems obvious to me that Paris is the best choice. After all, if you are going to be in any city in France then why not the biggest one with the most attractions. And as the city with the most foreigners in residence its also the easiest for an American to make social contacts quickly.
