We are looking for the chance of three years living in the USA, apparently we could move to Hickory or Claremont in North Carolina, where my man can still keep his job for the same company.

I´am kind of nervous because we have three children, two of their teenies and the little is just turning 3 years old. Which of these towns or cities (I don´t have too much idea how big they are) would you choose to live? and Why? One more question, I won´t work probably at least the first year...do we really need two cars instead of one?

  1. Hickory is a larger city than Claremont. The population is 37,222 compared to claremont's 1,038. More things to do in Hickory, if those are your only two choices... I say Hickory. Claremont is more of a town to raise a sheltered family. Hickory is quite liberal, all kinds of people. And yes i would own 2 cars. This place is Very auto dependent. though, we have a metro bus in Hickory. Claremont has no public transportation that im aware of. Best bet is Hickory, NC.

  2. Hickory is ok place to live but really has nothing major there. A lot of factories have closed so its a meh place. Charlotte is a banking city and has a lot of stuff for adults. Also, your near Asheville and the beaches in SC so it is a good place to live. Cheap to!

O and Hickory for teenagers...kinda exciting but then gets old

And 2 cars yes...In NC if your not in the city your in the middle of a suburban place that is spread out. I drive a scooter in Charlotte and a truck when I need to travel to Hickory or surrounding area's.
