Have you been on a 'California Zephyr' before?

Is it reliable? I don't mind if it causes a lot of delay - as long as it gets me to my destination, I'm good. But I have heard rumors that sometimes these trains come to an abrupt halt & the conductors force the passengers to get off the train & walk barefoot for the rest of their journey!

  1. Life's a journey.  Enjoy the ride.  That's the mark of a good traveler.  Every incident is another adventure.  There are no inconveniences, only interesting experiences.

  2. Taking a trip on the Zephyr is an absolute gas!  You'll love it! Yes, Amtrac trains tend to stop in some remote spots to pick up and let off passengers (Like Elko, Nevada-my home town) but if you were in that much of a hurry, you'd fly.  My best advice is to sit back and enjoy the view, you won't get there any faster than the train will carry you. Oh, and remember to bring a camera.

  3. first, its "THE California Zephyr" its a name-train.

two, thats not true about the walking thing. If you walked there, you would be doing it on your own free will, probably because it was faster. The trains frequently break down, or get stuck behind other trains, so if you arent in a rush or on a tight schedule, its REALLY worth it.
