Question:

Have you been to Buenos Aires, Argentina?

I'm visiting Buenos Aires, Argentina in a week. I've heard the shopping is wonderful there because everything is so cheap. If you have been there, do you have any store suggestions to check out? I'm more interested in the funky boutiques than the designer clothing. If you have gone, what was your favorite thing to do there? Favorite thing you saw?

Any information will be great.

  1. Yes, I have been to Buenos Aires and it is a wonderful place. If you want to shop, then I suggest you to have a walk in the Florida street. It is located in downtown and there are plenty of Argentinean shops. You could buy an Argentinean leather jacket at very good prices. For dining, you should go to Puerto Madero: best steaks in town. And if you want to spend a quiet time in a park, then Palermo is the option. If you want good nightlife, dont forget "La Recoleta" (there are also some stands with argentinean stuff during the day). And please, dont forget about soccer, it is the real passion of the country and if you want to live a different and exciting experience, you should go to the stadium: either la Bombonera or the Monumental. Btw, close to la Bombonera, you will find the Caminito quartier, very very traditional and old neighborhood (just visit it during the day)

  2. It is not as cheap as it was 4-5 years ago.  The economy has recovered and is much more expensive now.  Leather goods locally made are your best bet at saving money.  Most of the shopping is imported goods, which are more expensive than in the US.  There may be "funky" clothes that are locally made, they would be in the Recoleta or Palermo districts for high end stuff, San Telmo for cheaper stuff.  Avenida Santa Fe and Palermo Hollywood is probabaly where you would like to look.
