  1. We went in May and took our kids. They were nearly the only kids in the resort. It was early May so most people are not traveling with children at that time. Except people like us with well behaved children that are lucky enough to miss school.

Weather is really great then and you'll have a great time.

  2. Hi,

May is a good month for your Honeymoon in Cozumel. Early to mid May you will have few kids if any and all the College students will be involved in graduation, matter of fact most college kids head for Cancun. Cozumel starts to pick up in late May through June. You might have a little more rain in May but what the heck its the tropics.

I spent my honeymoon on the Yucatan. Our first two nights were at the Mayan Resort at the Mayan Ruins at Chichen Itza. This was a blast we were all alone in a great bungalow in the jungle. The resort has a lot to offer. To do this you'll have to rent a car at the Cancun Airport and drive the toll road to Chichen Itza, it will take you about 2-1/2 hours.

My Bride and I spent a week at the Park Royal in Cozumel last July and will return soon. Great place for a honeymoon. The staff is very friendly, the service is first class, and you can't beat the food and drinks. If you are interested I have a contact at the Park Royal. Just email me and I'll put you in touch.  willo1044@yahoo.com

    Enjoy

  3. Yes, May is a great month for a honeymoon. The children and college students will not be there. My wife and I spent two weeks in Cozumel this year. We honeymooned in late April and returned in late August.

The rainy season is over in March, the weather should be perfect in May.

My wife and I stayed at the Cozumel Palace, it was fantastic, all of the rooms overlook the ocean and they are all suites. The hotel is rated as the best all-inclusive hotel on the Island. It is close to town, and I will tell you that all of the hotels close to town will not have a beach per say. They have areas of sand that over look the ocean, Cozumel has coral reefs that begin right at the shore. (Great for snorkeling) They have a beach club that they will shuttle you to, if you want to go to the beach. I think for your honeymoon the all-inclusive is the way to go. The Park Royal is very nice as well, but it is not walking distance to town and the hotel is on the other side of the main road from the shore. If, you want a beach and want to stay away from town without the all-inclusive package I suggest the Presidente Intercontinental, great rooms and great grounds.

On Cozumel, rent a car and drive to Punta Sur park and check it out, then drive over to the other side of the Island and stop off at Coconuts, you can't miss it! I would suggest going over to Playa Del Carmen on the ferry, at least one night, 5th Ave. is lots of fun and there is plenty to do there. Xcaret is lots of fun as well. The ruins are very interesting, I really enjoyed the Mayan Encounter tour, you'll swim, zip-line and repel into a cenote. They will feed you and then take you to Coba one of the ruins.

I also highly recommend finding a scuba shop and taking a discover scuba class they will take you diving at a shallow depth.

I hope this helps, check out Tripadvisor.com and Cozumel for info about the Island and hotels. I still recommend the Cozumel Palace for a honeymoon, its the only place I'll stay in Cozumel.

Just stay there, do the all-inclusive thing and that is one less thing you will have to plan. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. scubadaddy32@yahoo.

    Have a great Honeymoon, congrats!

  4. Yes, I honeymooned in Cozumel in May. All of Big Kat's comments are true.  Not too many people.  Scuba diving is not crowded.  The shops are making good deals. No waiting in restaurants.  This is the best vacation either of us has ever had, and we are up there in years.  Another private, low key, less expensive vacation is on the nearby island of Isla Mujeres. This is a much smaller island, less touristy, with more opportunity to experience the local culture and food.

    Have a great time!
