  2. Yes, it's very interesting, but a very tight fit for a middle aged Englishman! I also got to fire an AK-47 at a range! It's a short trip from HCMC and can be booked at numerous places in the city. Well worth a trip. Enjoy!

  3. I've been to the tunnels once and to Cu Chi many times. I may be the only person who will say this, but I will say it anyway. I thought the tunnels sucked. The communist propaganda film at the beginning of the tour was complete B.S. along with the tour guide. Then again, the kid didn't know any better, because he was born after the War and only knows what he was told.

What many don't realize about Cu Chi is it's a mass grave for the Viet Cong and the Viets who supported the NLF. If you look around Cu Chi, you will see bomb craters everywhere. The cold hard fact that the communists don't want the tourists to know is many thousands of Vietnam were killed in the Cu Chi tunnels from all of the bombings.

I bet you didn't realize when you trounced around inside the tunnels that just a few feet away from you was probably someone who was crushed to death by a bomb impact. A thought like that would take all the fun away of a place like that, which is why the communists don't want the tourists to know the truth.

I have family who live in Cu Chi, which I visit when I'm in HCMC. When I'm there, I pay respect to the thousands of souls who died horrible deaths there. However, I will never visit tunnels again. I believe turning that area into a tourist attraction is disrespecting those who died there.
