Have you been to Enniskerry, Chasel, Doolin or Birr, Ireland and if so, where did you stay and why?

We are going in April and want some local experience rather than just reading online and in books.

We will be staying in or near Enniskerry, Chasel, Doolin and Birr during our trip. We will also be in Dingle but that is a separate question.

Any information on bed and breakfasts would be most helpful.

  1. Hi, Enniskerry is quite near to Dublin and does have a bus into the city.  It is a nice place, very small village but the start of lots of walks into the Wicklow mountains.  Look at www.wicklow.ie for help.

Never heard of Chasel, maybe you mean Cashel. Its in Tipperary where the Rock of Cashel is.  Tends to be a place most people pass through on their way to somewhere else but there are a few nice places to eat. try www.tipperary.ie, it is not a tourist site but might lead you to accommodation. It is bigger than Enniskerry.

Dont know about Doolin - its famous for its music of course look at www.clare.ie and Birr is a small town. There is also a castle there with a famous telescope in the grounds. Look at www.offaly.ie

Not sure why you picked these places.  They are all small and it depends on whether you have a car as to what you will see in the area.

Dont have any individual recommendations but you could check out www.failteireland.ie or www.discoverireland.ie both of which give links to places to stay.

Most bed and breakfasts are of a good standard, try to get ones that are Bord Failte approved.  The advantage of staying in b & bs is that it is much more personal as they are mostly family homes and a few farm houses.

The websites I have given you are under the name of the counties, i.e. Enniskerry is in Co. Wicklow. Doolin in Co. Clare, Cashel in Co.Tipperary and Birr in Co. Offaly. Hope this helps.

    Enjoy your trip.
