Many people have been to jail but far less than been to prison. If you are accused of a crime whether you commited it or not you will be held in jail. I have not been to jail or prison and I hope that I never have to go. I know someone who has been in jail and it was horrible. It was crowded,dirty and loud.

I've been there to see clients, but I never had to stay.  I will tell you this: there is nothing more disturbing than hearing the sound of the door clanging shut and realizing that you can't leave until someone lets you out.

Yes, I have and I live in Maricopa County where the "notorious" Sheriff Joe resides and it is disgusting. You get rotten hard food twice a day with no condiments whatsoever and you sit in dirty 4x4 rooms stuffed full of people. If you are a girl then it is pretty gross because they do not give you feminine products so the room is usually filled with bloody toilet paper if you even have any and for men i hear it is disgusting as well because there are much more of them and they pee and p**p anywhere. Also, there is little to no air ventilation and when I was there a girl was smoking heroin in the corner and we all had to breathe it in. The guards rarely check on you so if there is an urgent need it will not be addressed. It takes forever and you get absolutely no information and you never know what time it is, there are no clocks or windows.

How do you mean? I went to several jails in different countries to motivate and encourage the inmates.

In 3rd world countries its crazy. The stench and condition was like animals. Then when i went to a jail in Texas I was like this is so comfortable at home away from home no wonder it is full with inmates(laugh). They call it correctional  facility. I kinda say "place that you go to pay for your criminal deed/s".

No. But I do want to volunteer to experience how life in jail feels like. I know its weird but I just want to know how does it feel like to be living in a cell.

sad to say ..yes for 2 nights for driving under suspension it was terrible. i haven't been back
