you mean venus fly trap.

you kill them by doing that, once they close, they die. at least feed them a dead fly with your finger!

Only water it with rain water and never put your finger into it, its not good for the plant

It is actually called a Venus Fly Trap and what you are describing can in fact damage the plant.
