  1. That was King Edward VIII who abdicated for the love of Wallis Simpson in 1936.

I suppose you could consider Henry VIII, a monarch of almost limitless power; he married Anne Boleyn (second wife), Jane Seymour (third), Catherine Howard (fifth) and Katherine Parr (sixth) who were not royal.  His wives, in those times, even though they may have been royal, had their power through him, and they were not allowed to forget it.

Here's an article on royal morganatic marriages that you may find interesting:

(Sorry - you wanted just the names; there are names in the above.  I would also include Edward IV of England and Elizabeth Woodville.)

  2. Considering that for much of history, women were considered the natural subordinates of men, wouldn't it be easier to look for relationships that appeared equal?

But here are some suggestions, mostly of women who married "down":

Mary, Queen of Scots, and Lord Darnley and then Mary and James Bothwell

Princess Mary Tudor and Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk

Queen Margaret of Scotland and Archibald Angus, Earl of Angus

  3. Edward VIII of the United Kingdom

Abdicated his throne for marrying Wallis Simson.

    James II of England

James produced an immediate controversy by announcing his engagement to Anne Hyde, the daughter of Charles's chief minister, Edward Hyde.

    Henry VIII of England

He married four wives who were all ladies in waitings and court ladies:

    Anne Boleyn

    Jane Seymour

    Katherine Howard

    Catherine Parr
