I was checking a few out. Do you think it would be a good option if talking to someone in person is too overwhelming?

  1. That sounds like a good idea. Congrats on taking the first step, it can be scary talking to other people about your problems, but they are there to help you. Good luck with your therapy.

  2. It may be a good idea, especially for just getting things off your chest and being able to take that big first step in talking about it.  But if you receive advice on what to do next, you should be careful and remember that you don't know who you're talking to online.  Anyone can call themselves a "therapist", legally.  And do you really want to take advice from a self-proclaimed therapist who actually has no idea what they're talking about?  Instead you should look for people who have degrees in psychology, psychiatry, social work, or counselling.

Just take online therapy for what it is - a good way to talk about your problems for the first time and get your feelings off of your chest.  But if you're actually seeking professional advice on how to deal with these problems, online would probably not be the best way to go.

  3. yeah it could be good. i've never taken online therapy sessions but my doctor recommended them - in particular one called "beating the blues". its apparently really expensive but effective. i opted for talk therapy instead. you could try online i guess, although it costs rather than being free like stuff on the nhs.
