  1. I loved it.  Get the chicken!

  2. B Smith's it a very interesting place, and worth at leat one visit.

Housed at Union Station in DC, the room that is now the dining room used to be a private waiting area for the President to use for train travel. The Beaux-Arts archececture of the room alone is worth the visit.

What you'll experience here is Southern-Style cooking gone gourmet.  There are a few holdout food snobs who contend that there cannot be such a thing (since they brand southern / soul food cooking to be nothing but redneck scrap food), but don't listen to them...You'll love it.

Their best known dish is called "Swamp Thing," a seafood and greens dish.  If you're only able to go once, this is a classic that at least one person at the table should order.  They also do a good lamn chop, and have the obligatory Fried Green Tomatoes.  If you approach the menu with a sense of fun and have a basic knowledge of down-home southern cooking, it's an adventure.  If you're a picky (ewww... what's that?  This looks yukky) eater, you'll be faced with a Green Eggs and Ham dilemma at every turn.

Additionally, the real people-watching action is at the bar, so go early and catch a couple drinks there if you're into that.

If you're looking to experience the place on a budget, go for Sunday Brunch (their best prices of the week), and go early before it gets packed.

    I hope this helps...
