If so, how did you recover.

I need some options. I feel I have tried everything.

  1. Talking to a good therapist always helps, even if you do not have a chemical imbalance.

    I have used this site myself, they are always changing articles;

    www.depressionandanxietypain.com

    Best to you,

  2. I've had some serious problems with depression, as far as getting things back on track I haven't really found anything that really works for me. I have to keep myself busy and I have to keep my mind going otherwise I crash and struggle with being near suicidal. I have been working a lot in therapy with my psychologist and I also work with a psychiatrist and hopefully they will help me be able to get back on track.

  3. Yes I have I got to the point to where I wouldn't go any place or hardly move I had no energy I ended up in a hospital because mine got so bad I tried to take my own life that was 6 yrs ago now I make sure to take my meds everyday & on time but recovery is possible I'm proof of that

  4. Yes.

    While I still sometimes have bouts of depression I think that (even with hating my psychiatrist!) therapy helps. It helps you really get to the root of your problems so you can work on them.

    It helps to also have an unbiased person there to give you a good view of how you truly are. Without really knowing it your family/friends/whomever you're around may be giving you a twisted perception of reality and reinforcing a lot of your negative thinking. They may not even mean to! It just helps to have someone that you can tell everything to, without fear that you will be judged or fear that they'll be shocked. I think I suffered from pretty low self esteem and even if I'm not better yet,  I now know my problems so I can work at them.

    There are also mood stabilizers but I don't know too much about those so I won't speak on them..

  5. I think everyone in at least one point in their lives becomes extremely depressed.

    What works for me when I'm feeling like that is to surround myself with my friends and family.  Mostly my friends, because they always end up doing or saying something so stupid or funny (or both) that I can't help but laugh and cheer up.  Another method is to find someone that you trust, and I mean really trust, and sit down with them and tell them what's going on with you.  You'd be surprised at how therapeutic talking about what's messing with your head can be.  Medication could help, but I'd only go that direction as a last resort.

  6. Yes - and I saw a psychiatrist and got script for Effexor XR.  That and saw a therapist regularly.

    If you are truly depressed, you DO Have a chemical imbalance.
