  1. No, they paid me to refrain from dancing. I would probably fall and hurt myself.

  2. I've been an exotic dancer for a while now and I have a few gripes, but I do love my job; I love being able to perform, I love being able to socialize, and I love being able to decide when I come in and for how long I work.

There are plenty of things I dislike about the job and I advise you to seriously rethink the reason you want to dance, because the cons can outweigh the pros for most people.

You'll have to deal with degrading men - this job can be emotionally draining and some girls just can't handle it when they come across a man who says something disgusting, starts inappropriately touching them, or starts throwing dollars bills at them when they're on stage. You'll also come across drugs and prostitution. Even at most high-end clubs you'll have to deal with other dancers who will give men extras and that will make your job a lot harder.

I know I'm just talking about the horrible side of exotic dancing, but I've just seen too many girls think that stripping is glamorous or that they can handle it and end up really destroying themselves, especially if they too caught up in the aspect of making as much money as possible.

You should probably go to amateur night at a nearby club and see how much you like being on stage. It can be loads of fun, you can earn some money, and you can easily measure how comfortable you are stripping in front of a crowd - if you do win, you'll probably get hired at that club if you ask for a job. Going as a customer a few times to the club(s) you'd like to dance in is important, you can see what kind of girls you'll be working with, see what kind of customers frequent the club, and you can get a slight idea of whether you'll make it there or not.

Good luck and remember to always have fun.

  3. I am not an exotic dancer; but I take pole dancing lessons.

This is advice my dance teacher has been given to those who are curious to those who are deciding on trying it out.

    1) Go to multi clubs and check it all out. Talk to a lot of the dancers and security. Interview them. Get the low down. Especially to the location you will be applying to.

    2) Get some lessons: pole, jazz, belly etc. Just really focus on your body, mind and most defiantly social skills of how to communicat to the customers.

    3) Look into your outfits. Look into your interest. Most dancers I known have a trade mark about them. Leaves customers thinking of particular girls based on that theme experience. You see hard core to soft.

    4) Find your strengths and weaknesses.  If your strength is your pole work but weakness is lets say..lap dancing or interacting with customers, really have to be able to focus on that weaknesses.

    5)  Remember what you do or try to do can affect your future.  Some companies won't hire an ex exotic dancer. Some companies have been known to fire employees. Alot of federal and state jobs are strict; so I would advise to think about that incase you have a different career in mind.

    6) It isn't always about the money. Have fun, dance and explore other boundries.

    7) Most of all, be safe. Know your environment. Know your customers and know your staff. One day, you might depend on them walking out to your car or going home.
