Let's see who answers this one.

I bet Capt. John... maybe Yankee...

Mostly I'm just a bit curious who knows what it even is.

Thumbs up to whoever has!

Till tomorrow my friends...

G'night.

  1. Sure- that's easy,  it's the last plank put in to complete the construction of a wooden boat.  Got it;s name from celebration that took place when hull was completed.

  2. When building a boat, the last plank is called the whiskey plank. When that's in place... well we all have ourselves a little shot of whisky...

  3. woops.........late to the party.....putting in a shutter plank......

( as in the last plank in a wooden boat which closes her up, or shuts her up)......

  4. This is a little known celebration.  And the Johns are correct in that it marks the last plank.  But what I feel has more relevance is 'Plank Holders'.  These are the people assigned to the first operational cruise.  Of any ship wood or not.

If you're thinking wood only and preferably sail.  I like the tradition of putting a coin under the step of the mast.

If you are into trivia, find 'The Devil to Pay'.  When I grew up, and that was a few days ago.  That was parent's favorite threat.

  5. And it usually involves one h**l of a hangover
