Have you ever been caught in an armbar that had prolonged effect afterward?

About 3 or 4 weeks ago I got caught in an armbar. I waited to long to tap. I didn't think too much about it but after practice my arm was sore. The pain has slowly decreased. I was thinking it was pretty good today. I went to the gym and tried lifting weights and was shocked. I started warming up and got to a weight I usually warm up with and couldn't do 1 rep. I tried to do other exercises and my right arm just has no strength in it. I could do 3 bar dips when I normally would do 15.

Anyone have this happen to them? Things will go back to normal soon right?

  1. You may have torn a muscle or a ligament. You should get that checked out by a doctor if the pain persists.

  2. Yeah, in one of my first shoot wrestling workouts, I got arm triangled.  I didn't know what an arm triangle was.  I thought he was trying to scissor me, so I slammed him.  It really hurt, not right away then, but once I got my breath back after wiggling out of the hold and relaxing.

    If it always hurts, go to the doctor.  If it only hurts when you try to do strenuous activity, rest it.  Maybe after two weeks off you might actually come back stronger.  I wouldn't wait any more than two weeks to go to the doctor if your strength isn't back by then.

    You can always use the time to strengthen your neck, lowerback, abs, legs, and other things that us guys sometimes neglect to train first in our workouts.

  3. Yeah. One time I got caught in an armbar, then like two hours later, my spleen exploded. x_x;

    jk

    But yeah, as the other guy said, you should probably ask to see a doctor -- or better yet a chiropractor. Those do me a world of good when my joints get injured.

    I've waited too long to tap before and something similar happened. It went away in few days. Considering that it's been with you for so long, that makes it sound serious. Again go get it checked out.

  4. A fracture would probably be the worst thing, but it would heal after a few months. There could be some nerve damage. Why not try go seeing a doctor?

  5. Sounds like he choked your v****a as well.

  6. Hi there,

    Yes, I've been injured in training by an armbar. It happened quick. I still get a little pain 10 months after the injury. If you can't lift and whatnot then you might want to have it looked at by a doc. You don't want to have long term problems......better to be safe then sorry
