  1. I was yes.

My story does have a happy ending I suppose.

I’m Irish and I had a miserable life with my family and I was homeless in Ireland first.

I had been sleeping rough for about 3 months in Ireland when I hit on the idea of going to find work in London because a few of my cousins were working there.

I went to stay with them in a bedsit but I had trouble finding a job because I hadn’t finished school and I had been homeless on and off for years and only 16 so I had no real experience. I worked on and off here and there for a year.

I had lost my job in a hotel (someone was accused of stealing and how it worked was they had fired all the pakis then they fired the Irish girls) so I was looking for another job and my cousins left to go travelling.

I had no work and couldn’t pay the rent so I got evicted.

I slept rough for a while and the tried to get help but was told i was "intentionally homeless" because I had come to England with no real way of taking care of myself.

I slept rough for a few months until I got pneumonia and then a charity that helps homeless Irish people gave me the money to go home.

I ended up back with my family trying to find a place in a refuge/hostel like before I left.

It’s hard to find places in refuges in Ireland but one night after things got really bad my mother broke my jaw and then I got a place in a refuge run by a charity.

I lived there and then in a B&B where I was living when i met my husband and moved in with him.

Basically you're better off trying to get help from charities.

The government in England didn’t do anything for me. Which i understand since I'm not English but they didn’t do anything for the English people sleeping rough around me.

Governments don’t care about you. It’s charities that will help you.
