Question:

Have you ever been in a car wreck where the airbag deployed? Were you wearing your seatbelt?

The reason why I ask is that I was in a wreck last year (some jerk decided to turn left in front of me when I had a green light and while I slammed on the brakes, I still ran into him at around 25 MPH). Luckily I was wearing my seatbelt and my airbag deployed keeping me from hitting the steering wheel. While I ended up with some nasty looking bruising, couple of minor burns and a wrecked blouse, I believe that the seatbelt and airbag saved my life. I was just wondering if anyone else had gone through the same sort of experience?

  1. absolutely .. two years ago this coming March I was in holiday in Virginia and my vehicle (a rental) was totaled by a near head-on collision .. airbags deployed saving us from steering wheel and window glass damage but my lady friend receivd a broke leg that required major surgery .. always wear seat belts!

  2. Yes, same thing happened and I am sold on airbags.

  3. Yes I've been in a car wreck, I was in the backseat and wearing my seatbelt. There are no airbags in the backseat of course.

  4. No but I have had many of my customers in wrecks and without the seat-beat and airbag, they would not be here today.

  5. I like airbags, but not seat belts. Of the two wrecks I've been in, I was never wearing seatbelts and I was fine both times. Also, both times the airbags went off and I was not harmed at all. One collission was side-hit, at about 25 mph, the other was rear-end (I hit them) at about 75.

  6. Yeah I was driving on an icy interstate and slid into a guard rail head on at about 40 mph, my car had an airbag and automatic seatbelts, which I had the shoulder belt on but not the lap belt, my airbag bruised my face and I had a bruise across my chest from the seatbelt but I had no other injuries, just scared the c**p out of me. I know I would have been in alot worse shape had I not had the belt and airbag.

  7. My mom was in an accident when some idiot was driving without clearing off the snow from his car. He didn't even scape off the ice from his windshield. The side airbags, the seatbelt tighteners and the special head rests probably saved my moms life.

  8. I have been in 2 wrecks in which the airbags deployed and yes i was wearing my seatbelt both times.  I got burned the first time because I had my hands on the side of my steering wheel where the gas from the airbag escapes.  Not a bad burn but a burn anyway.
