  1. You are chosen in my state if you have a drivers license or are a registered voter. You can get out of it 1. are you hard

of hearing 2. Physically unable to sit for long periods (doctors note) 3. financially can't miss work (you show the judge that your job will not pay for every day your off some companies will though) 4. You can play stupid ( if you are chosen )

If you are chosen that is the 1st 16 people or so, each attorney will ask question to you to see if you will make a good juror or not. Example DUI case if one attorney ask you

if you have ever drank while driving , do you think that the laws are to strong or , is anyone in your family a police officer.

It's questions like that so, if you play stupid and give a crazy answer your apt not to be choosen or, if you sway with your

views to one of there sides you probably won't be chosen.

Keep you don't get to accept the offer. Once the judge says

is there any reason non of you should be here it's up to him or her to decide on what your response is.  That is if both attorneys agree on wanting to keep you.  I told the judge I had been laid off of work for 2 months and had a job drug test and he would not let me go so it's on you how you answer if you are chosen or not.

In the case you just sit and listen to every thing that is said go

back to deliberate and take a vote and until every one agrees

one way or the other you stay.

  2. In our county, people are picked out of voter and drivers license lists. As far as getting on to a case, it depends on how the lawyers for and against the defendent 'feel' about you. Pretty random.

I've never gotten out of it. But a buddy of mine did so by claiming to not believe in the system. He had a really neat, really scary speech involving Satanism and anarchy.

When you get the call, come in as required. It's only a day unless you're actually called upon. And it's an interesting experience.

The one time I got on, some black kid had broken into a warehouse and got caught. He dropped his bolt cutters while he was running, and when the officer finally caught him, the officer picked them up. By some weird logic only understandable by the black 'brother' on the jury, the bolt cutters magically became someone else's, and not the ones the kid dropped. The idiot actually managed to 'hang' the jury, and the perp got off.

  3. Yes I was a juror and the jury foreman in Municipal Court

You are chosen at randum either by voter registration or via DMV.You can be excused if you meet the criteria for dismissle. They accept you, both, applicant and defense council.

You listen to the facts as they are given and decide what is true and what is not. It takes all twelve jurors to "hang em"and just one juror to disagree for the "jury to be hung!"
