  1. ive been in like 6 hurricanes...well the power goes out and everything...if you are in a safe house you can do anything without power...fun is limited and it can be very loud outside...some people get scared...and the wind is very loud and it makes you think things are blowing around outside when they are not...

  2. Yes.  I was in the f-4/5 tornado that hit the Metro of Oklahoma City in spring, 1998.  It was incredibly scary.  We all knew that the twister was headed for us and everyone we ever knew.  We managed to evacuate and stay out of it's path.  But by the time we had driven around the back side of it, the aftermath in our neighborhood and neighborhoods everywhere, was devestating.  I will never forget it's roaring sounds, and massive power.  Whole buses were picked up and tossed off the road.  Cows literally had their fur ripped out.  There were so many stories about people being ripped away.  We were all very thankful that the fatalities were surprisingly low.  The lucky thing about Tornadoes, is that you know they are coming and you can typically get out of their way...your house and town, not so much.

  3. I'm going through fay right now! it sucks, we live in brevard county so we are about to get hammered by tornado's and hail and lots and lots of rain and wind! the tornado's though will be only EF-1s, F-1s, EF-0s, and or F-0s! so i gotta go, tornado warning! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...

                        bye!

  4. I have experienced several typhoons (Pacific version of hurricanes, I believe) while stationed in Okinawa Japan at the Naval Hospital. I always seemed to have the duty while my derelict friends decided to have a typhoon party in one of the BOQs (Bachelor Officer Quarters). We brought all the pregnant mothers who were in their third trimester since the thinking was that the barometric pressure changes could trigger labor. Mostly we stayed indoors and away from the flying debris outside which seemed to cause a lot of injuries to the young Marines who would not let a little ole typhoon get the best of them.

  5. i've been through a few , but the worst was wilma. the winds were howling..my apartment felt like it was shaking. they cut power pretty quickly to avoid transistors blowing. so we sat there in the dark scared.

we lost power for 5 days which was nothing compared to most down here.

the first 2 days we had no water...than for over a week the water was contaminated.

  6. I went through Hurricane Fran in 1996, It was quite violent. We lost our Carport and several tree limbs in the yard. The area I live in lost hundreds of trees down. Tornados spawned during the Hurricane and tore tops out of trees. My daughter was very young at the time and was very tramatized by it for a long time afterward.

  7. I live in FL, and have been through a couple. the worst for me was hurricane charley. it was not supposed to come as close as it did to us so not many people were prepared. it can get pretty scary. First we started getting wind gusts of about 100 to 115 mph's, windows start shaking and it starts to get pretty loud and you'll probably loose electric by now. the storm took a Sudan turn toward us and gained strength. We herd this on the radio and brought our 2 year old son to the pantry and covered up withs his mattress. by now the wind picked up to about 130 mph sustained wind with 140 to 165 mph gusts. this is win you realize that this is real. we lost all of our windows and rain was coming in. we lost electricity for 6 days. no gas, no a/c, no open stores, nothing. these storms are nothing to take lightly. right now fay is right over us, she's like a baby storm
