  1. Yes.  When I was about 6 years old it got really dark and windy and dad came flying down the lane on the tractor, yelled at mom and they grabbed all us kids and we went down the root cellar.  The noise was horrible.  My brother and I snuck up the dirt steps and peeped out the cracks in the door.  We saw the barn just lift up and just go to pieces like tooth picks in the wind, dad yanked us both back down the stairs and we sat and ate apples, till the noise went away.

When we came out the barn was gone and trees were broken and tossed about like lollipop sticks.  It took forever to clean up.

  2. Approximately 10 years ago, I was in a car under a bridge during a strong wind storm and video taped the storm and saw a large tree being uprooted and blown across the road.

  3. I have been in several strong storms. A few years ago, there was a huge super cell that poured rain for hours around my house. When we woke up the next morning, the basement was halfway flooded and the funny part is that we live on a hill! Then a year ago, there was terrible weather that produced a lot of tornados. This was when I was at college and I was watching a lot of people standing outside in the hail waiting to see a tornado. It was fun. I like storms (except for the whole flooding part, it kinda sucks.)

  4. I've lived through 2 tornadoes and hail the size of softballs.  Does that count?

  5. yes, and it's AWESOME

  6. yes, there was a storm when my mom let me skip school if i went grocery shopping with her and there was a T-storm and

she was turnin' the wheel like crazy to keep on the road and when we got home shingles were missing and or dog house was in pieces our cage was collapsed and our storage house flipped over

  7. Yes when I was 10 years old my mom and brother went to the grocery store. While they were gone a giant green wall cloud rolled over the suburbs. The sirens sounded and I was all alone in my basement with large hail. It was freaky! It was 2004 in Plainfield Illinois about 40 minutes south of Downtown Chicago.

  8. I live in Florida, so have been in several hurricanes.

During the last one, I was standing outside on a covered patio watching the hurricane roll in.

All of the sudden the wind got horrendously strong and a gazebo with a hot tub in it about 10 feet away shuddered and started shaking and slightly lifted off the ground. Then the covering on the patio started peeling away and making terrible groaning sounds. Pieces of roof started flying off.

I went inside at that point, where we all went to the strongest part of the house to wait it out. It lasted for hours.

After the worst of it passed, all of the roads were covered with downed live electrical wires and fallen trees.

The paint has literally peeled off part of the house and all the roads were impassable due to downed trees. We didn't have power for 10 days.
