Ever since I switched horses in horse lessons, the different horse i now ride likes to run fast. Once i built up the courage to canter, and he bucked me off even though i held on tight. My teacher urges me to canter, but im afraid that he will go into a gallop. Im kinda still learning how to ride horses still. WHat do i do to stay o n when he canters? When he canteres it feels like im going to fall off. Is it just normal, but hard to fall off! Please HElp! Thanks!

  1. I would make sure that you are relaxed before you get on. Trot around for a while, until you fell that you, and the horse are relaxed. Without surprising him, give him signals that let him know you are going to canter. Such as, a half halt, or something, and signal him to canter. If he gets too excited, bring him back to a trot and make him realize that he cannot go crazy. Do this until he finally slows down at the canter.
