  1. It depends on what you want to do on the island.  If you take an excursion booked on your cruise ship, you usually will need some money for shopping, food, etc.  Prices are a little high, but hey, you are on vacation!  Try to make it to Atlantis.  Its one of the best things there.

  2. We went to Nassau and Freeport.  This was our first cruise and we had a great time.  The ship was a little boring after a couple days. The cities was great but once again.  If you've seen one straw market, you've seen them enough.  You started seeing the same things but at different prices.  So shop around.  You do need money for shore excursions and shopping.  We, me and my husband, spent about 600 on the boat (pictures, drinks, gifts and shore excursions) and probably another 200 with gifts from the markets.  Items were cheap on the islands.

  3. We often go to Nassua & Freeport, which will be your port of call?

Nassau offers bus service, when getting off the ship head into the shopping district & catch the #10 bus, it will take you to the Cable Beach area, beaches are nice there. It is $1 per person each way. Atlantis is cool but very costly, take a cab there & just look around for free OR you can purchase a room for they day & have access to all the amenities, whenwe did it it was about $175, we shared the cost amongst our group, We then used the room for showering after using the pool, etc.

Freeport is more Bahamian where Nassau is much more touristy. We take cabs around the island or even rent bikes ( depends where you want to go) We've only been here a few times & didn't do much other than enjoy the beach & casino.

    Hope this helps!
