Question:

Have you ever been prevented from playing a sport through injury for a long period of time?

I ask because I'm currently unable to play football and by time I can play again it will have been about 2 and a half years without any sport...people keep telling me that "It's only a couple of years out of your whole life", but I'm at an age where football should be a major part of my life and I'm finding myself having to watch my mates play football whilst I'm stuck on the sideline doing nothing. It's really frustrating.

So I'm just wondering, has anyone here had similar circumstances? Did you find it difficult? Did you ever fully recover from your injury?

Any experiences you could share are much appreciated. Thank you :)

  1. Yes I broke my ankle and was unable to play tennis for about 6 months. It was awful I was so bored. Fine now though thank god.

    Hope you recover soon (:

  2. I once broke my hand in the ring and was out for 3 months.

It will never be the same.

    Why all the thumbs down?

  3. 2 and a half years for a broken wrist??? Change your doctor mate!

I have recently come back from a back ligament strain! was out for over a year because the only way to repair it is to rest completely and it is impossible to rest you back, you use it for alsmost every movement! So it took longer than say a knee ligament would take but I am back playing football and running now! all the time out has affected me though and I think it will be another 4-6 months before i am running to my best yet!

  4. I have had sciatica through getting a hamstring injury, it is doing my head in. I'm just about ready for exercise again after a year on the sidelines and it has been a nightmare, though not as long as you, the team I played for won the league and that made it even more frustrating knowing I should have been part of it..... ah well there's always this year.

  5. I tore my hamstring Thai Boxing, and I've been unable to do it competitively ever since.

I can feel it's always ready to go again

  6. i had a strained muscle once in rugby season and yeah i was pissed.

unlucky... but youll recover .... sometimes injuries are a proper *****

  7. no ive been lucky so far.......

  8. Thankfully as of yet I have not! Touch wood that continues but I can only imagine how frustrating and annoying that is especially if you love the beautiful Game and playing football! There is nothing worse really than seeing a player injured for a long time...you can see how angry and frustrated they are knowing they cannot help their teammates out!

Anyways best of luck......that has been a long lay off!

  9. Good to see a question like that on here cause im crocked!!

I was a really good soccer player at 17 and getting fitter and better(I wasn't gonna be as good as a pro but playing local league soccer is as fun for me). I got injured during a match and I didn't go off the field when it happened, it got worse to the extent that I was limping. A doc told me that id be ok after a week but that wasn't the case.

Basically im 25 at the mo and nowhere, id go back playing but our club doesn't have a B team so there's no point in going back cause I wouldn't make the 1st team and im gone too unfit.

Just be patient mate and look after the injury and make sure ur fully fit b4 u go back.

  10. yup! brokn wrist which prevented me from playing tennis n footy! i dunt see y i cudn't play footy but i jus cudn't soo! but i got my cast off early that was a gud sign! what have u broken? TP im sure u'll be fine n happy once ur healthy! it'll be worth it trust me!
