Just read a post, asking an opinion about Nigerian people. Most answers were negative, because of the big scams online (eBay etc). Have you ever been scammed? And imagine that I (Oppie N'Dukuduku) was the guy who scammed you, what would you say to me ? (Please try to answer tactful, otherwise the YA-snitches will report you). I am very curious!

  1. Nope,never but that's because I trust no-one and am not a tw@ ;-)

  2. I was scammed a few  years ago.

My late huband bought me a rare cherished teddie on the internet - he went to the trouble of getting an international cheque so he could surprise me for a present for christmas.  This was no mean feat as he was quite badly disabled - wheelchair bound.

The item was never delivered and with various emails going to seller it ended up she wasnt going to send it as she thought we were rude asking for our item.

Turned out she was scamming a few others on the internet and we all joined together (online forum helped) and took her to court.

She was sentanced and we all got money back.

    My husband died before that.

Its not fair scammers doing this to people.  We didn't have a lot of money - and he just wanted to do something for the women he loved buy her something she would treasure always.  I never got the item and now hes gone I don't have that nice memory it would of been just the bad one of the scammer but I am content - as she got caught.

I alway pay by credit card or paypal now - don't want that to happen again.

  3. i was scamed. so if you are the guy who scamed me: you don't have another ocupation or what ,,,why did you do this it's so imature to scam a person. that's what would I say to you.

  4. actually yes...

When I got a new PC a few years back I got internet again (after being without it for a few years). Much had changed and my girlfriend wanted to start downloading mp3s. I let her look into it and she signed up with what I now call a P2P scam site.

In case you don't know (many don't), a p2p scam site is a website that sells "subscriptions" to "download millions of songs for one low fee" (or something to that effect). What they do, however, is have you download "their software" which is merely a popular peer-to-peer file sharing software like Limewire.

I found out shortly after that the software itself could be gotten for free and it wasn't completely uncommon for unsuspecting people to get taken by the scam. It was shortly after Napster was sued by the RIAA and those scam sites were proliferating substantially because people (like us) figured that if we were paying money then it must be legitimate.

I actually did some research about all of it and found that most of the sites were running out of Canada (or at least had business addresses from there).

Those sites are still around and every once in awhile I see someone here on Y!A asking about one, so I share information about them as much as I can.

  5. No - i'm not that dumb

  6. No because I'm not that stupid. Anything that come from that region is dodgy. It's been broadcast around enough times not to get involved with them, unless you want your bank account emptied.

But as everyone knows there are people still about who never listen to good advice and then wonder why they get caught with their knickers down. They get no sympathy vote from me.

  7. It too easy to be scammed by Nigerian people on ebay, even the biggest sellers are easily scammed by them.

If you were a nigerian scammer who has just scammed me, i wouldnt say anything to you because the nigerian scammers are quick, they wait for there item to arrive then they take your money back out of your acccount then close there account cutting off all communication.

I havnt heard of anyone who has won a dispute with a nigerian scammer.

I would be calling you a lot of F words though,

  8. Yes and no.  I didn't purposely get scammed but thought I had.  I bought an Ipod Touch, 32 gb online and when I received the package it was filled with rocks.  The ipod cost 426 dollars.  The first reaction was to swear the seller out but I didn't because it wouldn't lead anywhere, so I emailed the person and simply said "I received an Ipod box full of rocks, I have reported you and will make sure you don't get any money" - something to that nature.  It turns out that the seller didn't even know there were rocks in the package.  Luckily the person lived somewhat close to me and we met up, she verified the weight of the package and eventually returned my money.  Don't get me wrong, if I was truly scammed, I would go off the ends of the world to find you and prosecute you, how will I do that? I'm not sure but there are ways...I read an article online of how someone scammed nearly hundreds of people and one person found him and now hes in jail for a long time.
