  1. Im coming there on a cruise leaving here aug 16 ill be there aug 18-aug 22

  2. Hi. I live here as well I'm in Warwick.

  3. Yes, I've been there twice and enjoyed it immensely. What's not to like ? Stunning beaches, scenery, polite people, gorgeous pastel-colored houses... I am definitely coming back.

BTW, if you look under resolved questions for Bermuda, you will see my Q titled "What's your favorite beach in Bermuda ?"

I like your quiet beaches on the eastern part of the archipelago: Shelly Bay, St Catherines and John Smith. I have yet to visit Clearwater. Tobacco Bay is a bit too crowded for my taste. As for the beaches in Paget, Warwick and Southampton, I am only familiar with Elbow beach; that is because when I was there in August of '04 tourists were advised not to swim there because of the rough waves and winds that resulted from Hurricane Frances in the Bahamas.

Also, I was advised by the locals that they are WAY overcrowded and that the waters are not as calm as on the eastern side.

My only complaint about Bermuda is that watersports are very expensive, e.g. 1.5 hour on a jet-ski costs $125 at both Windjammer Watersports at the dockyard and at the St Georges branch. Still, I like that tourists are not allowed to go out by themselves and are required by law to be accompanied by a qualified instructor. In the Caribbean and Mexico, I think they have a lot of accidents because tourists are allowed to explore the waters without proper instruction and supervision.

I like the shopping as well: I got an excellent deal ($25)on a Scottish wool sweater at the English Sports Shop in St Georges. In the U.S, they sell it for at least three times that.

Do you know Egmont's clothing store in St George's ? It's the dark mauve one-story building above Tucker House. I got really cool inexpensive T-shirts there.

Let's see, what else can I write ?  Well, I like the modern architecture of office buildings in Hamilton. I LOVE taking the ferry. The feeling is amazing: being all alone in the Atlantic with the nearest land being hundreds of nautical miles away.

What parish do you live in ?

P.S. The one thing that saddens me about Bermuda is that a significant number of people are unable to rent accommodations, let alone take out a mortgage. I read a heartbreaking story in The Royal Gazette about families who were living in the abandoned Club Med hotel overlooking St Catherines beach.

  4. I live here...wish I was somewhere else though :-p

  5. I am looking at planning a cruise for next month to Bermuda.  Is it expensive to buy food, restaurants, etc?

  6. YES,  I have been to Bermuda twice by cruise ship and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I would definitely cruise there again and probably will whenever I can find a great deal.  Bermuda has some of the best beaches of any island I have been to.  And I love the transportation pass system that lets you ride all over the island.  I always feel safe there riding the  buses and going all over the island.

Its been about 3 or 4 years since we were there so its about time for another visit.  See you when we get there......  LOL.
