Have you ever been to Ecuador?

Question

In one week I will began a 6.5 month study abroad adventure in Ecuador! Have you been there, and what is one thing I should know before I go?

Ecuador is a nice country. It's small  compared to a lot of other SA countries,  so we found it easy to travel around. You can visit the hot springs of Banos, the Indingous market at Otavalo, there is also a tourist train going to the coastal area through spectacular landscape (unfortunately we've missed that one TWICE!, good reason to go back though). The (Ciudad del Mundo) latitude isn't really on 0,0 but you can also visit the real place.

Been there! I've been to Quito, Cuenca and Guayaquil. You will love it! What's nice about Ecuador (and most Latin American countries) is that you have beaches Mountians and jungles all in one country. There are amazing beaches in Ecuador. I recommend you visit Baños and Otavalo while there, and also to jump to neighbouring countries such as Peru or Colombia if you have some time. A trip to Galapagos is worth it but it can be pretty expensive so I would rather go to Peru or Colombia first. There is no negative comment I can make, food is ok, people are friendly and you will have a nice experience. While there, try eating yapingachos which are like smashed potato balls, deep fried and with a tasty cheese filling.

my stepmom is from manta, ecuador and she howed me pictures and to me it looks amazing...she told me the people are nice the sites are beautiful and the food is delicious...what sux is the heat lol

Yes, i've been in Ecuador before.. Ecuador is a wonderful country, the mountains, the people, the food, everything. I've been in Quito and Guayaquil, nice cities...you will have fun in Ecuador, good luck in your adventure
