am possibly going to go to Grenada for honeymoon next year. I am looking for any information regarding this venue. I would like to read about your respective stories having been there or due to go there.

I am hoping to get some information regarding the following:

Flights: Where from (uk), how much, duration, what to do on flight tec.....

Resorts: Hotels or appartments recommended or not recommended!

Costing in general: IE food, drink, all inclusive packages etc.....

Activities and tourist attractions to try out and/or avoid!

Any problems to look out for in particular?

What would you give the experience out of 10?

Any information would be much appreciated and as I have already said I would love to read your stories about holidaying in Grenada.....

  1. i went to Grenada at christmas with my husband and son.  it was fantastic.  Direct flights are only available from Gatwick which was a bind as we are from manchester.  Flew with Virgin, and had excellent flights there and back, the service as fantastic.  We stayed at the Coyaba Beach hotel on all inclusive and found this excellent value for money.  The hotel was on an enviable position right on the beach.  The food was to good to be true - put on TOO much weight !!!  The locals are really nice, just watch out for the 'gentlemen' on the beach.  Was propositioned several times when my husband wasnt with me!!! However, the hotel security guard soon shifted them on !  WE found the Virgin excursions very expensive,  and it worked out cheaper to do things ourselves.  Most of the taxi drivers are willing to take you anywhereyou want to go, for a set price and will stay with you for as long as you want.  They are feircly proud of their island and will give you a free tour whilst taking you where you want to go.  I can highly recommend this island and would love to go back one day !!! hope you enjoy it too.

  2. Well l went to Grenada in 2002 (before hurricane lvan).

I cannot give you flight info because l'm from the Caribbean.

Yes it's a small island but what it had to offer l enjoyed.

You should get a hotel/guesthouse/apartment near Gran Anse, l stayed at Grande View hotel and the view was indeed grand, it was a sea view and the white sand beaches were inviting.

We visited the Gran Ethang dam and went to a waterfall, visited the other side of the island and had a great time everywhere.

    I would give it a 9-10. Enjoy!

  3. grenada is gorgeous...

    in answer to ur buletpoints:

Where from (uk), how much, duration, what to do on flight tec.....we went from london/gatwick airport.

Resorts: Hotels or appartments recommended or not recommended! you cant go wrong with your own villa, or a large all inclusive resort near a beach with a pool!!!! (go for at least 3 stars, 4 if u can)

Costing in general: IE food, drink, all inclusive packages etc.....not overly expensive, it depends where you go really. you can get some real bargains but like anywhere, there is always some rip-offs.

Activities and tourist attractions to try out and/or avoid! banana boats are always fun! and we went jet-skiing!!!

Any problems to look out for in particular? people trying to rip you off, and there is a bit of violence. just stay in well known more touristy areas and youll be fine :)

What would you give the experience out of 10?

nine. every time. the reason id give it a nine is because i prefer barbados and the bahamas :)

  4. I've been, but only briefly. I therefore don't have any useful information about independent travel to Grenada. It is a charming island, but a very small one. It's great product is spices, and it is known as the spice island. The people are delightful. You must be aware that it is prone to hurricanes during the hurricane season (June to October). It was devastated by Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and then hit badly again the following year. It has put a brave face on things, but a lot of rebuilding still remains to be done.

    Prepare to be charmed!

  5. Well ..... I'm probably not much help, but anyway.

I was in Grenada on school tour --(i'm 16 btw!!!)

it was a nice area but i did think their was nicer places in the south of spain.......... we visited alhambra palace, and it was absolutely amazing the architecture was outstanding!!... well worth a visit if your into that kinda thing. Its a colder spot compared with other places .... and prices there are similar to the rest of spain!

flight prices totally depend on when you go ..... i guess they'd be cheap from the uk.
