  1. NO but one day i hope to go there

  2. Went about 4 1/2 years ago.  Went to:

    Venice

    ----------------

Really nice and small.  You can walk the whole city in a day.   You can be out until midnight and still a lot of people around.   Interesting being  in a place where there's no cars, traffic, etc.  Gondolas are real expensive, though but water taxi's are cheap (then again, everything is within walking distance).   Take a boat out to Muran(?) to watch the glass makers make vases, glass trinkets, etc.

    Florence

    ---------------

Nice if you like museums.   Have your hotel reserve you tickets to go see the Statue of David and the Uffuzi gallery the day before you visit the museums.   That way, you don't have to wait in the super long lines to get in.  Other than that, not much else to do (other than shop).

    Pisa

    --------------

Takes about 1 hour to see (about a 1 hour drive west of Florence).  Only plan a half-day there.

Siena (45 minutes south of Florence).

    --------------------------------------...

Nice little town on top of a hill in Tuscany region (sort of reminds me of Napa Valley in Northern CA).  Only spent 1 afternoon there.  Took forever to find parking.   They have a famous horse race in the town square every year.

    Rome

    -------------

Bustling and exciting.  Watch out for pick-pockets (use a money-belt to carry your cash and credit cards, not a wallet).  Colliseum is pretty cool and the Roman Forum is OK.   Vatican is amazing.  Sistine Chapel (located in the Vatican Museum) is pretty cool too.  Just mind the priest that keeps "shhh'ing" people in the Chapel (suppose to be quiet).  He'll open a can of whup-*ss if you don't heed his warnings...

Kind of funny that the Vatican Museum has a lot of art but most visitors just walk past everything and follow the herd of people to the Sistine Chapel.

    General Things to consider

    --------------------------------------...

Renting a car is expensive and not really needed.   Better to take the train everywhere.  Public transportation is pretty good, too.

Check out Rick Steves website.   You can find his tour guide books at the local library.   He gives great suggestions on places to eat and cheap places to stay.  He also gives you guides to museums so you know what to look for and what is a waste of time.  Every place he suggested to eat at (that we actually tried) was good.

Heard that Cinque Terre (Italian Riviera) and Lake Como are nice, too.

    Good Luck......

I was in italy the year their soccar *excuse me* futball team won the world cup and everyone was in the streets screaming and celebrating it was soooo cool. I saw the coliseum and we even drove out to pompeii which was super cool. The guys were hot, the italian ice(aka Gilato) was awesome and the language sounds so beautiful.
