  1. Yes I have and the prices in Tokyo can vary but ultimately very expensive . Most people go there to make money then return home to other prefectures .It is fast paced , and if you have the money, a place that will blow your mind . I don't think there is anything you cant do in

Tokyo , I was there for months and came home  in peices . The rent prices are usually insane so if you plan to stay find work quick and bring a fair bit of money.  Don't go if you like  , camping and listening to babbling brooks and quiet times where you can have sometime alone .

  2. I was in Japan for a month but only spent a few days in Tokyo.  It was exciting and expensive.

  3. yes, depend on you r itinenary

a week include hotel, meal should be around 500

  4. It is a blast there and I wish I would have stayed longer than a week, but I was on my way to other SE Asian countries.  It was very expensive, my hubby and I still joke about the "tea" we had that cost us $80...

  5. Hi there!  I'm currently residing in Tokyo and have been here about a month.  Staying in a hotel is expensive, but I am subletting a flat for just 60000 a month.  My friends tell me that this is an amazing deal.

Tokyo is an amazing city and has tons of incredible things to do.  You'll never find yourself sitting around wondering what there is around.  There's the typical touristy things, and then there's the shows and events highlighted in magazines like Metropolis (which is free, so you definitely pick one up when you arrive).  I would be flabbergasted to meet a tourist in Japan who was bored!

I thought I'd share a story with you from today: I took the train and subway from my flat in Akabane to Roppongi clubs tonight. It was $4.  The train and subway stop running after 12, so I had to get a taxi back at around 4 AM.  It cost me 8000 to get from Roppongi to Akabane.  Insane.

Also, Ginza high-end luxury shops are insanely overpriced.  I didn't know this until my first day shopping there though.  I thought with the USD - Yen exchange rate being "slightly" in my favor, I could get a good deal.  But because of import taxes and whatnot, a $400 Coach bag in the US becomes a $1000 Coach bag in Tokyo.  $800 Chanel heels almost cost $1600, a so forth.  Definitely no good deals around that area.

Oh, and finally, finding places that take credit is "like searching for a needle in a haystack."  So you have to carry fat wads of cash around with you.  Because of this, you literally have to physically part with your money while shopping.  This further highlights how expensive Tokyo is, when you get back to your place after a typical day out, and notice how the thickness of your wallet has quickly thinned...
