  1. I currently live in one (Brazil). The most unpleasant experiences are linked to high crime levels. I've been robbed at gunpoint. Since then, I'm very careful and for eight years I've been good.

Pleasant things would include taking part in the joy of people and their openess. Their strong ties to cultural habits and their tradition/heritage.

The same factors go for the other three poor countries I visited: Argentina, Chile and Mexico. Argentina and Chile don't feel dangerous, though.

  2. M E X I C O   getting sick from eating their food.  It is called the Aztec-Two-Step.  Conditions are rather unsanitary and most travelers come away with some form of pain full dysentery.  One can get it from food, water or even the meal you eat on the plane returning to your home country.

BTW I am a Globetrotter and have been to seventy seven (77) countries.  The worst were Mexico and Mali in West Africa. . . May all my enemies go there!

The most memorable experience in Mexico was getting robbed by gunmen along the main road just before getting into Mazatlan. . .They were acting like Police and said they have to search the car.  They took all our money and some clothing and one of the girls were molested.

  3. Lots of mosquitos.
