Have you ever been to the Love Parade in Germany?

Was it awesome? : )

My friends are going & have invited me to come with. I'd love to get some feedback from people who've been to it before.

*Did you feel at all unsafe?

*How much money did you spend?

*Do you have any tips or advice?

*What did you bring with you?

*Is there any valid reason why an incredibly responsible & mature 16 yr old shouldn't be able to go with her older friends?

Vielen Dank!

  1. Most festivals in Germany are loaded with police and are usually safe to attend.  Of course anything can happen and hint the name LUV parade.  Not to cut you down but there is no such thing as a responsible 16 yr. old.  As for money you'll need only the money that you think you'll need to drink and eat probably between 30 and 50 euros.  Love parades are crowded, LOUD, a lot of barely clothed or no clothed gorgeous bodies having a rub down together and yes it's fun stuff!!!!!!  Still not sure about the 16 part.  Have fun and be careful.

  2. No, I never went to Germany

  3. Yes it was the best if your into that whole techno stuff than you'll love it, people dance with each other, its like if all of us knew each other forever, yet we met all there,it was totally safe, kids go with parents and stuff, i been going since i was 5 years old, well if you want like souvenirs and snacks take like $30 dollars worth,oh and try to stay more father back in the crowds because in the front it gets really crowded and then you don't have any fun anymore...he-he,bring a cellphone,a friend, sunglasses, water and some comfortable shoes,i went by myself and a few friends  since we were14, so yes i think it would be okay for a 16 year old to go...all i can say is Party Like There's No Tomorrow!!!!

  4. Yep, once, in Berlin, where the love parade was really huge.

    To answer your questions:

*Did you feel at all unsafe?

    No, not a minute.

*How much money did you spend?

At the parade: Nothing at all, as I marched with the waggons. Afterwards at a party: Some 100 Deutschmarks or so. (Would be some 80 Euros now.)

*Do you have any tips or advice?

Yea. Feel free to be free.

*What did you bring with you?

A rucksack with some clothes for the evening. German weather may suddenly change to rain and thunderstorm. I hate getting wet and want some dry clothes with me. (Didn't need them however.)

*Is there any valid reason why an incredibly responsible & mature 16 yr old shouldn't be able to go with her older friends?

    No.

    [edit: Her credibility might suffer...]

  5. One tip - make sure you have somewhere to stay. Cities fill up when these kinds of festivals are on and its impossible to get a bed at the last minute.

I was in Berlin for the parade one year and the following day all the shelters in banks with ATMS were full of sleeping ravers.

Actually I guess 2 tips. 1. Get somewhere to stay. 2. Get enough money out of the ATM the day before so you don't have to climb over a pile of ravers the day after.

  6. I've been to it last year in Essen.

It was great; no need to feel unsafe, even older people contributed. I've spent a lot of money, not on the parade, but later in a club at "Zeche Carl". Just come and enjoy it, this year it will be in Dortmund on 19th July.
