I've spent months of my life there on end. It's a phenomenal set of resources, but they're not all in one place. The regional centers hold most of the records because when they tried putting everything under one roof, they ended up losing most of the 1890 census and a bunch of Army records to fire. So they broke it up. If you want one of the best, visit the NARA center in Chicago. Their Reading room is very comfortable and modern. The LDS could do so well! If you ever get a chance to visit the Military Personnel Center and Federal Personnel Center in St. Louis, it's a huge treat.
