What was it that was said and why were you offended?

Or do you take everything said or written here with and pinch of salt from a bunch of people you have never met and never intend to meet?

  1. When I first joined I would get offended by certain remarks, but I rarely get offended any more. I think I have learned a lot from my time spent here.

One thing I do laugh a lot about are the newcomers to the section, who initially shoot their mouths off and take potshots at certain members without realising how many regulars are here.

Retaliation is swift and firm here, and there are always many  cries of outrage by those who struggle to take the medicine which they were so ready to dish out.

There is definitely a settling in period and it's interesting to watch how certain avatars behave during this period.

  2. Same as Darth, when I first joined Yahoo and someone had some stupid comment about one of my questions and I got all cross with them and took it personally. Now, snotty comments don't phase me - in fact they make me laugh because in real life whoever makes the comment would probably not have the guts to say it to my face. Although, I do have to admit, I have also said some fairly mean things to other people, but I am hoping they don't take it to heart either.

That is why the internet is so great.

  3. .,Tolerance , not being judgmental and always remembering that it is only an opinion some one I don't know and as you mention may never meet.

I would really love to see more positive feed backs and answers.

Some members sure go out of their way to find a decent answer to be helpful.

  4. No.

Actually I have been surprised getting emails from people not posting thanking me since some of my answers to others helped them.

Depending on the questions, quite a few of the forumers take the time to give good detailed answers.

  5. I choose not to remember things that p**s me off... its too much strain.

  6. Yes, only once.

HD had a serious go at me. I was new here and after his responce I thought this section was a joke. I rembered getting three TD for a spot on answer.

Today HD is probably one of my favourate contributors.

  7. I cannot remember, but once or twice when I just joined Y/A. Then I quickly learned to just ignore any slander that comes my way. I rather remember those questions where people indicated that my answer really helped them.

  8. No. Cyber lies are cyber lies.

  9. And what a question by the devil himself!

I never take it personally however, my nerve has been touched once or twice, not on the SA section though.

  10. someone said the Kobe was a rapist..... that was offending since i am a Laker fan/ Kobe Fan

  11. Ag I have a very thick skin, but I must admit when Turniton and you, Bull, were so childish and nasty to me in the beginning I really felt like tracking you down and having some one kick the heeby jeebies out of the 2 of you, I wanted to hire the Nutcrackers. You can be glad you apologised. As for the rest, I am used to a bunch of criminals swearing at me as well as Judges making me feel like a low worm in a river bed, so this is a picnic here.

  12. Most of the time I can roll with the punches, but there was one comment that still makes me see red. Had something to do with my mother visiting a Marie Stopes clinic.

How can someone NOT be offended by that?? Especially as that person has no clue what type of person my ma is (or me).

    grrrrr....

  13. This surely has to be the reply I got from Ayiza in this question:

Thankfully, Ayiza is not as out-rightly disrespectful of other´s opinions and not always so rude anymore.

Nowadays, I do not care much what people say.  I can even laugh at most of the postings.  In fact, I NEED YA/SA to give me my daily giggle.  Especially after the MC/April Fool´s/Comms sagas, I have learnt to take each one as it comes.  Comme ci, comme ca. Each day is different! And each one of us is different, and each day we are different. Thank goodness for that!  How boring it would be otherwise?

  14. well of course i am 17 & a mother and this one woman wrote that god was going to stone me or something like that. but i did not worry about it. i mean people that down others always have insecurites about theirselves and dont want to face it so they treat others bad. i mean i know that i will probably never meet her nor do i tend to. i look at is as someone else in the world to spread bitterness to others. but yes hateful people make me mad.
